900+ oral histories now online
Budding scientist Gloria Scott started at IU in 1955, majoring in zoology and minoring in botany and French. Pictured here, she is one of the many university Alumni who have contributed to the oral history project, led by IU Libraries bicentennial archivist Kristin Browning Leaman. Gloria's story is one of the hundreds now available for online listening.
The IU Bicentennial Oral History Project is one of the ongoing bicentennial legacy projects. The collection will be transferred from the Office of the Bicentennial to the IU Archives continuing under Leaman's direction with the help of student interns across all IU campuses.

Shouts for Justice: A message from Dean Walters
“We can’t let it stop.” Those words were spoken in an open IU Libraries staff forum. We came together in anger and sadness. We did not leave healed. We are in no way ready to close this wound freshly opened by another murder of an unarmed person of color. At IU Libraries we add our voices to rising shouts for justice and to the loud condemnation of violence and racism toward all people of color, and to all of those in the IU community who say the time for change is now.
